The Cops 'N' Robbers (named after the Bo Diddley song obviously) issued just three singles in the mid-’60s lifetime, as well as a French-only EP. Their chief claim to fame is recording and writing the original version of "You’ll Never Do It Baby" the infamous and nasty R&B raver that was covered by The Pretty Things on their second LP. "Oh My Love" was recorded by The Artwoods and it was as well another Cops 'n' Robbers original.
Hailing from Watford in Hertfordshire, England and consisting of Terry Fox (organ), Henri Harrison (drums), Brian 'Smudger' Smith (vocals) and Steve Smith (bass), the band was famous mostly for their punky R&B live shows delivery, quite similar to the Pretties' if not even punkier.
The two singles on Decca, "St James Infirmary" and "Just Keep Right On", both failed to enter the national charts. Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" was released as their third and final single in 1965 on Pye Records.
Here's gathered all their A's & B's.
